I have a V8 302 5.0L EFI in my garage. I've called a mechanic. he will rebuilt the engine to more power. But he asked me for the serial # on the block of the engine so he could check for parts and give me an estimate on how much it would cost.
The problem is I've been looking for that damn number last night and wasn't successfull.
Can somebody tell me where to find that serial # on the Block?
is is on the side of the timing chain. or frost plugs or where?
I'm really new, so take this with a grain of salt, but in some of the other forums I've heard that it can be above or behind the starter motor. Also, I tend to spend most of my time in the 80-86 forum, so this may not help with your year, but you never know....
Hopefully someone else more knowledgable will jump in....
There are casting numbers on each of the cylinder heads, above the starter, and on the block near the distributor. The dizzy one will be an actual date assembled, then if you know the rest of the information, you can put together the casting numbers.
