Long story, short version. Took truck in to dealer for a tune up, tranny service and transfer case oil change. I found out mechanic (I use that term loosely) put mercon3 instead of the 5 version in tranny. Then lies to me about it when questioned.
The same fellar changed plugs. Truck ran fine before. It did not make 24 hours before service engine soon light came on. Took it back to dealer to check codes, has 2. One=p1000, second=0401. the mechanic says it has nothing to do with what he did.
Talked to owner of this dealership and he said "bring it back we will take care of it". Three trips and still not fixed. Is this the quality of Ford care everyone is having, or did I just happen to get the only mechanic with a 5 I.Q..
sounds like Ford quality to me...I've been there with the old "we'll take care of it" line...im getting my tranny flushed on friday, i hope i don't get the bad service like you received. I would drop the car off and request a rental until they fix your car.
blackeye what transmission do you have in your truck? The 4R100 or 4R70W? The 4R100 does use Mercon, not MerconV.
The P1000 code means that not all the system on board tests have completed. That code shows up anytime a battery terminal is disconnected and will usually go away after a few days or it will stay if there is another fault such as whatever is causing the P0401.
The P0401 is an EGR code, usually caused by a faulty DPFE sensor.
Well went to the dealer today and they changed the filter and fluid twice. I feel fairly sure that mercon 5 is all I have in there now. After this last visit the dealership and I have mutual feelings of hate and I will never go back to them.
Yes they did. The truck had what sounded like a small exhaust leak under load, after describing the sound and when it happens a second mechanic fellar said "I know what that is". Ten minutes later all was good. No exhaust leak and no codes. (hopefully)
