Hi all, glad I found this site.Ok,heres the problem.I bought a 82 full size Bronco and knew it would need a flywheel. My 17 yr old son offered to do the job and I agreed quickly. After changing the flywheel and bolting back the tranny he came to tell me the motor wouldnt turn.I told him NOT to try to turn it over and to pull the tranny again. He did and we found the tc jammed on the input shaft.I got it off without much trouble. Before I re-installl the tranny I need to know what to look for as far as damage.nothing is leaking as far as I can see.Tranny appears to have been rebuilt recently.
It a 302 motor and someone told me it has a c5(?) tranny. Thanks for any help-Rick
ok,been searching your site and everything is telling me that any damage will be to the pump, shaft, and or torque converter.what do I need to do or look for? thanks again-Rick
Sounds like you found the answer
Torque converter will probably be ok, and same with the shaft. The front pump though, will probably have to be replaced. I have seen a number of people do this, so don't be too hard on him
thanks steell, called tranny shop and they say the same thing. Is there a way I can tell if the pump is broken? Is it much of a job to take out and replace?
Hardest part is pulling the transmission. You should be able to pull off the front cover and replace the pump, (I don't remember for sure, it's been awhile).
When you pull the front cover, it will be obvious if the pump is broken.
ok,goin out to try and see.By the way...earlier I got the tv to lock all the way(I think) and then it wouldnt spin anymore.Should it?I thought I would still be able to turn it. Thanks-Rick
Right again Steell, took it to the shop and they put a new pump in.I also had to buy a new tv 'cuz the other one had a bad spot where it was forced on.Thanks for all your replys and I look forward to spending some time on here as soon as I get the tranny back in...or sooner if I run into more trouble. Thanks again-Rick
