Question 390 swap

Will a 390 out of a 68 Fairlane 500 fit into my F-100 390 with no problems? My truck has the C-6 tranny..........will I need to change anything or should it drop right in and bolt up? I don't know what type of tranny the fairlane had in it. Please help. Thanks!!

You should be ok. There is nothing that I can think of that would be a problem. Easy swap!!!

Thanks Mark, I didn't think there would be.....but wanted to make sure. What if the Fairlane had a C-4 tranny? I am trying to figure out what came standard in them.

The truck has all the parts you will need if the fairlane has a c-4. I think it is a c-6 also though.

By the way, welcome to FTE!!!

They never put a c/4 behind any FE. You will need your truck exhaust manifolds. Also the dipstick location may be different. Most cars went into the block near the front on the drivers side. Some pickups went into the oil pan. Other than that you should be ok. Your acessory mounts may be different too but that should be obvious and you can just swap any of that stuff right over.
