I have chosen this long weekend to rip apart my steering linkage and radial arm bushing and replace all. Hopefully when I am finished I will no longer have those "unscheduled lane changes".
The problem is I could have sworn that my chepee manuals had the torque specs for these parts but they do not.
Does anyone have the specs for the:
Inner tie rod
outter tie rod
radial arm bushings
lower coil spring mounts?
Radius arm bushing are around 140 ft-lb if I remember correctly. For the tie rods, just hit them with a 3/8" impact until well-seated, then to the nearest opening on the castlenut. Apply generous amounts of torque to the coil spring mount.
This stuff isn't too exact; just don't make it too loose.
Well I got it all back together, then noticed that the wheels turn so far as to break the brake line going to the wheel cyl. also the power steering unit spouted fluid out of the fill tank as I rolled the steering wheel around?
