New Engines?

Does Ford plan on coming out with another gas engine for the super duty? The V-10 is a good motor, the 5.4 is good (as long as you are not pulling too much), the oil burner :P is cool but not my cup of tea. Che*ys 6.0 puts out 300 HP which almost as much as the V-10 and the 8.1 puts out even more than the V-10. So my question, is Ford going to have the V-10 compete with the 6.0 and make another engine to compete with the 8.1 Che*y, or is Ford going to up the V-10 and introduce another engine to compete with the 6.0?

I doubt it. We know that Ford is coming out with a 3-valve 5.4L engine in the next year or two, so an upgraded V10 probably won't be far behind. Plus, Ford is looking at super-charging more of their engines. How would that be- a supercharged V10 from the factory!

I think Ford is right on with the 6.8. This is from a guy with two 460's in his past. I do think the 460 would be a better motorhome engine, but for a pickup, the 6.8 would be my choice. Nice wide power band, decent economy (for a large truck), VERY quiet, and LOW emission output.
With Ch*vy going 8.1, they might run into a poor image of "worse gas guzzler", especially if the gag prices skyrocket. If you need that large of a motor, you need a diesel or a drag car.
Ford's modular system with interchangeable parts will probably help development with both the 5.4. and the 6.8 litres in the future. The 3 valve/cyl. design will most likely increase HP without displacement and produce a better hp/litre ratio
