My C6 transmission works great, but it won't shift back to first gear, if you drive down the road , up to third gear, then come to a stop at a stop sign, then go again, you can notice that the tranny did not go down to first like it should, it rather starts off in second instead of first, how can I get it to shift all the way back down again? Thanks
Make sure your linkage is in adjustment.
Or you might check out the shift module on it... might be a bit out of adjustment, but Im not sure if it would cause it to not shift back into first
Sounds like your Torque Converter stator might not be locking up like it should. A sign of a bad stator would be a bogged down condition in low gear, acting like its starting off in second gear, because there wouldn't be hardly the torque multiplication from the TC if the stator is just free-wheeling. Low gear would be affected, but freeway speed would not be affected.
The strange thing is... If I take and shift it down into "1" , forcing it into first, it takes off like it should, lots of torque and what not, just like first gear should. But putting it into "D" drive and letting the tranny do the shifting is a different story, it wont go into first, it only uses 2nd and 3rd for some reason, for the time being I will manually shift "1","2","D" and so on so forth.... but I sure would like to know whats causing the problem....
I started diagnosing some things today and found that both vacuum lines that go from the tranny to the intake manifold were dry rotted and broken, I replaced the rubber hoses and like magic, it shifts like a dream now!!! Thanks for the help guys!!
