Why go stainless? It's $380 more. Looks better I suppose, except who is going to be underneath my truck anyway. I know it does not have as high of thermal expansion/contraction as regular. It would last longer, but how long is long. They don't salt much at all here, none this year, so I am not in a corrosive environment.
I agree. If you live in a location that uses salt on the roads, then stainless is something to consider. But if not, then it's extra money that could be used for some other mod.
Ditto, I can get the 4" Diamond eye exhaust and Supertuner 1705 for $79 less than 4" stainless. Thats a tank of fuel, two cans of Copenhagen and a couple SunDrops (living expenses). Is the Diamond Eye quality? How about the Supertuner 1705?
Just put a Diamond Eye 4" turbo back and a Diablo Predator tuner
on a friends 99 PSD.
The hardest part was removing the old downpipe, after that it was a breeze. You may want a second person to help hold things in place until you get some of the bolts tightened down.
The main reason to go stainless is road salt, you are already aware of the thermal qualitys. If you do some surfing there are stainless systems out there that are nicely priced. I purchased a 4" 409ss, mandrel bent system for $400.00,including muffler and shipping.

Was that a cat back system? Just asking, I want the downpipe also. Seems like a waste of time and money to connect larger plumbing behind smaller plumbing, still have the bottle neck. Here in middle tennessee we rarely see winter weather, at least in the past ten years, so deicing salts are not a large concern of mine.
