I am in favor of rules that keep the drivers as safe as possible but I would like to see NASCAR be more competitive between all brands involved.
SAFE you are absolutely correct, the problem I see...
NASCAR has a plan and at times, it seems folks like Jack Rouch (sp) and others do not fit the plan very well.
I have NO data to back up my theory, just reading every once in awhile things that would lead one to believe they do not always play well with others. They…being… NASCAR.
I am not a fan of NASCAR at all, however there are some extremely knowledgeable people here, in FTE .....Some of the discussions have been great reading.
I do enjoy sitting on the sidelines and watch the dynamics of a very successful business………and that is what it is all about………..business.
just something I have noticed on the plate race tracks....seems like they scrutinize and penalize fords more than they do the chevvies.....to bad the fastest ford today couldn't get his last lap back that would have been good if Busch could have been in the hunt. Must have been frustrating to know you were as fast as the leaders, but needed help or a caution to get your lap back, and there wasn't no one around to help, and no cautions the last part of the race...how many laps was Kurt up there running with Stewart and Junior anyhow? seems like it was the last half of the race
I hear ya about the dark side - I kinda like Michael Waltrip even though he drives a chevy - too bad he wrecked. His mannerisms remind me of an old friend and I laugh every time I hear him talking on one of the shows.
I heard some commentators talking the other day about some of the races having a hard time fielding a full lineup. The little guy that doesn't win many races is having a harder time to find sponcers. It's getting to be a very expensive sport. They said even Jeff Burton didn't have a sponcer after the Daytona race.
I seem to be losing interest in the sport as it seems the multi-car teams are always the winners. My favorite driver is a Roush driver, but I still like to see the small guy win.Is seems to be more interesting with the small guy up there bumping with the big guys.
There was a lot of talk and print before Daytona about Jr. getting the win, and *surprise!* he did. Seems any team with an Earnhardt connection has got the hookup at Daytona. Sux for Waltrip though, I like him.
Remember Daytona after Big E died? His cars came in 1-2-3...I still htink there was a conspiracy there.
not liking what i have been seeing recently from nascar....from the new sponsor, to the points changes. it just sucks, and if it keeps slipping, i will probably not keep watching or keeping up with it.
New rule change is junk. They didn't need it. A fan watches for the races. There isn't gonna be a big diff in viewershipthe last 10 races. It's not fair to the drivers to lose any lead that they had. The DEI cars didn't come in 123 in the 2001 Daytona 500. It was 1-2 no different than now. The DEI cars run awesome on the plate tracks but struggle on the short tracks. That's because Dale Sr wanted to win the 500 so bad that that is what most of his research dollars in. Jr and Waltrip are always up front because they work so well together as far as helping each other out. They also have the most reasearch to fall back on for setting the cars up.
