So I have a 2000 V-10 4+4 ext. cab 27000mi. Bought it as a left over great deal..9 mo. old. when I have the hubs locked in 4wheel disengaged and make a sharp turn the universal joints go DODODO<<<DADADA<<<GAGAGA<<<<JOJOJO)))MEMEME)))YAYA YA, in other words they bind.I also have a 1999 PSD reg cab and with hubs locked in they be just fine... So here is where it gets funny ( or not depending on your out look) I take it to the dealer and ask them to look at it and the guy tells me its because my 2000 turns at a tighter radius than my 1999, now come on. I think I have a bad U-joint its'probley sticking at first I figured I would let it break in but is getting close to warranty time and no better... anybody else have that problem???:-X23
Sharp turns on dry pavement even if not locked in 4wheel,will
sometimes cause bind.
I know mine does it,I try not to make such turns.
why run around with the hubs locked,if your in area where you might need them okay,
but why put the strain on the u-joints.
your 99 is it a straight axle?
Just my 0.02

No you don't understand it's extreme binding when I take a 90 degree turn it binds badly, in the 99f-250sd it has a little bind but it's only on extreme turn ..The truck jerks you from side to side and goes clunk clunk clackitty clack..Also I have had front axle seals replaced twice now and both times the mechanic showed them to me and they where whipped inner seal and outer...twice in 9 months, I just hope the bearings don't go bad because I hear the cost of them is a real bell ringer...
If it's that bad, then the bearings are probably already toast. Things getting out-of-round a little might be what's causing your frequent seal replacement too. :-(
You may have both problems now
Bearing and u-joints and axles if there worn where they ride in the bearings!
I hate it when wrenchers only fix the imediate problem and don't look to see what caused it!
One reason why no one works on my truck after warranty.
