I just got a 2000 Ford Ranger XLT 4x2, 3.0L V6, etc. The owner's manual says rear ABS is standard, but front ABS is an option. The question is this: How can I tell if I have front ABS? (If so, then perhaps there'll be a greater discount on the insurance.) Thanks.
I had a 2000 Ranger just like yours. It only had rear ABS. The way I understand it, if you look at the master cylinder and you only have 3 lines coming off of it, you have RABS only. If you have 5 lines coming off of the master, then you have 4 wheel ABS.
Just slam on your brakes on a patch of dirt (safely). After you stop, get out and look to see if your front tires locked. You should be able to feel it lock a little.
