My power mirrors will only move in two directions - I think they should move 4 directions - up or down or left or right. All they do is "down and left" or "up and right". Diagonally only.
I've had two set pair of mirrors installed that behaved the same way. I replaced the joy switch today. No help. I see the same behavior if I push the switch down or left. Also the same movement when I try to go up or right - diagonal only movement.
Any ideas? Maybe a bad ground? Each mirror connector has 3 wires - I assume they are ground and one wire each for up/down and left/right. There are 7 wires on the main control switch - any idea what the extra one is?

Is this the expected behaviour? Am I trying to fix something that isn't broken?
Mike, just to let you know my '03 F250 has did this same thing to me too. However, it has only did this when it was very cold outside and ice may have developed behind the mirror. Once my mirrors have heated up(I have the factory heated mirrors), or thawed out, they work in all four directions just as they should. You did not say if it only does it while it is cold out so this may not help you in the least, but this is what I have noticed with mine. Hope you kind find the cure though. I know how annoying it is when mine does this until they thaw.
Mine behave this way all the time irregardless of temp. I haven't spent anymore time on it yet. Need to break out the meter and pull the door panels I guess.
Yeah, it sounds like that will be the next step in the process. Sorry to hear that I couldn't help ya. Good luck in your endeavors of trying to get it fixed.

Good idea - but I already did that and it didn't help. Now I have a spare $22 switch
Wish I had the wiring diagrams - that would make it easier to understand what could be wrong.
Summarizing - move the switch to the up or right positions and the mirrors move up and right. Same for left/down. Two sets of mirrors and two switches with the same behavior.
