Fuel Line

I was trying to remove my fuel filter on a 99 Ranger with the 3.0L and I think I might have trashed my fuel line. The local parts store did not have the tool so I tried to make one. Now the filter does not fit tightly on the line. Could it be a missing o-ring or am I looking at replacing the fuel line. If it is the fuel line, how difficult of a job is that? Thanks!

Just found out that the clip and o-ring is available only if the line is replaced. Have to order the fuel line and drop gas tank to replace it.

You could probably find and O-ring that would work at a good hardware store.

Also, you could check out a salvage yard.

i bought one from the dealership backhome in canada last summer. maybe it's a liability issue here or something. a fuel line from the dealer is going to cost you. a salvage yard might have one. the aftermarket might have some kit to fix it. worth lookin into.

Thanks! The fuel line was only about $40 at the Ford dealer and it runs from the filter back to the fuel pump.
