I'm putting a twin sticked 205 in my truck that will really confuse the grocery getting, soccer kid hauling yuppie's. sorry i believe a real truck has a t-case lever and locking hubs.
Originally posted by Fordman65 True - it may not even be an option on the half tons now - but my uncle had an 87 F150 half ton that had the auto/lock dials on the axle. - so they were availible on the half ton before.
I'm not sure about ford, but chevy had lockouts on all the half ton 4x4's up until 88 when they went to the front independent suspension set up with the torsion bars. Dodge did the same thing in 02 or 03 with its half ton pick ups. Ford changed around 95 (I think) to the FIS torsion bar set up, and you won't find any lockouts on an FIS system, they are engaged electronically within the front transaxle. I had a chevy with the FIS and personally I prefer the solid axle regaurdless of the lockout hubs. You are correct about the older Ford half tons.

ford have had lock out/manual transer case option until 1996 on the 150 and 97 on the 2/350s...IMO its one of the best options to have, i have personally seen electric shift transer cases and auto hubs fail when needed most...cant really break a lock out hub and manual shift t-case (well not the average person )
Actually, Ford still has a manual t-case & lockout hub option on the superduties. Half-tons have the option of a lever t-case, but use CAD to engage the frontend. Most dealers don't order them this way, more than likely to make a little more money on the sale and on repairs down the road.
