Factory alarm?
I was loading a rollaway mechanics box into the bed of my 03 F150 XLT and made a big bang while traversing the gap between tailgate and bed; suddenly the horn starts beeping and the lights start flashing. I had to insert the key in the ignition and turn it on before it would stop.
Ford people I have talked to so far tell me that there is no Ford alarm system (excepting the transponder key ignition interupt), but obviously my truck thinks it has one.
Any know anything about this?

There are Ford factory alarms, but they are optional. Did you get your truck used? If so, maybe the alarm was added and they didn't tell you about it. Try this: leave the drivers window down and hit the lock button as you get out and close the door. Then reach in and open the door from the inside, if the horn and lights go off, you got an alarm. If you don't have the remote for the keyless entry, you can get them on E-bay for a few bucks and then program it to your truck.
