slight miss
I have an 86 F350 dually witha 6.9 that seems to miss slightly at idle, but other times it runs very smooth. Also the same goes for power., sometimes has more, etc. even when cold ,sometimes feels like more power. The miss is my main concern., and smoothness. It seems to be running on all eight holes. who knows?

A miss could be coming from the injectors getting old or something (dirt) got past the filter and lodged in the injector making it stick or even water in the fuel. ( stuff happens ) With the engine idling at operating temp, and VERY CAREFULLY, go around to each injector with a 5/8 wrench, break the line loose to the point where you hear a difference in the idle, then retighten the line. If you come to one where there is no significant different --- that is the culprit. When doing this test, take your time between each injector, this gives the engine to straighten out. ( Not a lot of time, just a second or so ) You also wont have to loosen the nut very far either, if you see fuel coming out, that is plenty. BE CAREFUL SO YOU DONT GET CAUGHT UP IN MOVING PARTS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
