Does anyone know if it is possible to replace my non power stock trailer mirrors on my 99 SD with the new style telescoping power mirrors?
Thanks
Scott
Scott:
I have a 2000 Ex that came with the elephant ear mirrors. While on vacation, one mirror was ripped out of the frame and the dealer said that the whole assembly had to be changed to replace the glass since some internals were broken when ripped out. The cost to replace one with a telescopic mirror was within a couple $ of the elephant ear so I pulled out the check book and got a pair. It was the best thing I ever did. When they are "in" I've got great rear vision. When they are "out" I can see around my boat or travel trailer much better. The telescopics will fit without a problem.
I also have an F350 with an aftermarket "upgrade" from the previous owner. The mirrors shake so much at highway speed that a couple cars look like rush hour traffic. Even with out the telescopic option, your mirrors are a vast improvement over the old aluminum arm mirrors.
Check on EBay or another auction site or a junk yard to see if you can get them cheaper
Monsta, I took my door panel off and speaker earlier today and diddn't see any extra connections. If I got the power mirrors would it just be a matter of getting the switches and then bringing power from the fuse panel to the switch ? I appreciate your help.
