need help

Ok I just got off work started up the bronco, everything was fine started off about an half a mile down the road it just quits. I put it in neutral started it back up put it and drive hit the gas then it stoped again now nothing, it will not start at all its like no gas is getting to the engine, I will start with fuel filter replacement but do any of you guys have any suggestions.. It a 1990 xlt 302 EFI

Can you hear the fuel pump run when you first turn on the key but don't try to start it? I hope it is just a plugged fuel filter and not a pump. Also a possiblity is the inertia switch.

Inertia switch will kill the fuel pump outright, it wouldn't allow a restart without being reset.
Do you get a check engine light? Did you hit a large bump or anything that may have jarred something loose? Is it really cold there? Did you recently get a load of fuel?

yes its very cold here in iowa and I did just put a half a tank of gas in it and I had no check engine light come on either time when it quit. I will have to check about the sound of the fuel pump.

Could have gotten some watered down gas.

I would try a bottle or two of gasline anti-freeze. It will help digest a little water in the gas.

it's possible that it could be your ignition switch. check for power at the ignition box when the key is on.

hotwire the fp circut and listen for both pumps (don't know if 90's have 2. anybody?) also see if you have spark from the coil. If both work out more then likely it will be electronic components related to timing.

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be the stator inside the dizzy. replaced the dizzy and the ICM for good measure. Pull the codes and see if you get anything related to the PIP. It should be code 14 or 211.
