trading up
considering trading my 99 f-150 for a s.d. either a v-10 or a 5.4. truck will be a used 99 or 00. are there any common problems with these trucks? I got my f-150 6 mo. ago and now it has developed a crack in the door.I found out after I got the truck that it is a common problem. ford refuses to fix.So i am trying to keep from making the same mistake twice.also truck will be a ext.cab 4x4.any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I don't own a EC Super Duty but can comment on a few things that I have heard of.
If you choose the V10 (wise choice) get the '00. Mo' Powa!
EC doors squeak.
Front springs squeak.
Front sway bar bushings & links make noises when cold.
And a bunch of little things that may not consistute a vehicle wide problem but simply that it is made by fellow humans.
Those who DO own hopefully will add more. Good luck and have fun with your search!

I got the optional squeek silencer with my SC. It's a little **** located in the center of the dash. When you notice squeeks you turn the **** clockwise and insert your favorite CD and then the only squeeking you hear is from the air guitar and dashboard drums.

Watch out for the 99' 5.4's piston slap,oil leak in head gasket area
on right hand side.
