I know this a Ford Forum but this is a General Automotive question.
Is anyone familar with a LTZ? The one I watched sell was a 1995 (1994? been a while) Chevy that looked exactly like a Caprice - but had only LTZ name plates and nothing about Caprice or Impala on it. Equipped with a 350 engine and good sized tires (forget the size). Was this the forrunner for the Impala SS?
At the time I wished I had researched it a little better, all of 47,000 miles and cherry condition, only went for $5,000 even. If it had a LT1 V8 in it I'm still going to kick myself.
Exactly- the forerunner to the SS. It was a Caprice with a tighter suspension and bigger tires, just like you said. If it was one of their police models (some were LTZs), then it may very well have had a LT1. I took one in trade once on a Crown Vic PI- it was the chief's car, 2 years old, had about 6,000 miles on it. We sold it for ORIGINAL MSRP to a guy from Brooklyn that shipped it to the Middle East. Sure went fast, and everyone else went slow when you came up behind them. Especially when I hit that switch that said "WIG-WAG" (the dept. forgot to take that out of the car!)
