Unhappy Need tranny work... advise please

Not sure whats wrong with my tranny but should I take it to a transmision shop or the Ford dealer?

Rob, it would help if you would describe the symptoms and let us know details on your truck.

Auto or manual?
4x4 or 2 wheel drive?
Mileage?

Personally I would trust an independant transmission shop before I would go to a dealership. I would NOT go to AAMCO, my experiences with them have been - shall we say - less than perfect.

Tranny Work

Do you tow over 6k or trailer with large frontal area? If so you would probably do better buying a beefed up tranny available from a number of nationwide vendors, such as B&M. They are pricey but they are bullit proof. Ford OEM trany may not give you the service you need for towing big loads.

If you run around naked all the time any decent tranny shop can fix you up.

Start reading some of the tranny threads on this site, you will get smart in a hurry.
