Sorry to ask a question that has probably been raised before but I can't seem to find the answers using the search.
I have 35X12.5X16.5 BF Goodrich AT on my 97 F250 HD with 8" of lift. I want to go to a 37-39 inch tire to fill the wheel well more but can't seem to find the best tire. Does anyone have a recommendation for a long wearing semi smooth riding tire? I know that hi mileage isn't expected but 20,000 miles on $1000.00 of tire ain't going to cut it either. I am currently looking at ProComp, Swampers, Toyo and PJ's. Might even go with the 37x12.5 BFG but I could use some help/info.Thanks
Try doing a search using keyword "off-road tires". I got a bunch of hits. National Tire & Wheel was one with a lot of brands to choose from and they have spec's on each tire/size.
Thanks bro. I will try that but I was hoping to get some opinions from the members here on what to use or not use. This is a pretty informative bunch and have never gone wrong using their/your opinions when making a decision on my truck.
I have radial swampers on my truck. 38" I've been happy with them. They ride and drive much nicer than the bias tires I had on there for a short time before these. I had some 38.5" swampers on my 96 F-350 and they seemed to wear quicker than these. Also they wandered more and flatspotted when left sitting for a few hours. All in all I would recommend radial swampers to anyone that asked. Especially if they have had large bias tires before. The change is dramatic.
Plain old 38" radial tsl's. I have about 5k on them now and they look brand new still. The fronts are just starting to scrub off a little on the side lugs so I'm gonna rotate them to the back to get them flat again hopefully. My rig weighs 7700#'s too!
Annnnd....he can't hear the radio unless it is all the way up. No, I am kidding. Well, sort of. I had swampers before and thought they were good until I got Goodyear MT/R's. They are super quiet, long-wearing and not half bad in the mud. They are certainly not a swamper but I am still impressed.
I have the yokohama geolander M/T, they are a great tire, quite on the highway, directional tire, aggresive tread design. The only thing is they are a 2 ply side wall. I have not had any problems with these tires.
I have 38x15.50 pj's on 17 inch rims with 8 inches of lift looks good to me and the pj's are excellent in the rain, look cool and are not too loud. I wish I knew how to get pictures from the digital camera to the computer I would show you what it looks like.

Actually the stereo is pretty loud in my truck. About 2/3 of the way up you cease to be able to hear much of anything
Seriously though these radials are much (about 50%) quieter than bias swampers though.
