First post---Thanks to this site I have learned from your posts. While SDs are new to me, I currently have a couple of Ford vehicles.
A local dealer has a SD very similar to my wants/needs. 2004 F250 XL SC 6.0L w/auto trans (w/99P, 44B, T43, XC1, 17F, 52N, 572, 86T). It will take care of my needs (pull travel trailer w/tow capacity to spare in case there is a need for something larger. Don't need bells&whistles). I would appreciate any opinions about this vehicle. It may be possible that this truck has an 03 engine. Having read some of the past posts in this forum, a question is if this has a 03 Engine and not an 04 would that be a cause for concern? VIN = 1FTNX20P14EA9????

Did you blank out the last few digits of the VIN? Without them, I can't do any research for you on the vehicle. The data plate (inside the driver's door jamb) will give you the month and year the truck was built.

The truck was built 9/26/03. Perhaps someone here can tell you for sure if this is a "good" build date; I believe anything built after April of '03 is OK, but the folks over at the diesel forums could tell you for sure.

With that build date the engine is probably an '03 engine.
There were several improvements made on the '04 engine so I would really not want to get a truck that had an '03.
There are several threads that detail the differences between and '03 and an '04 engine - it is worth getting the '04.
Just my $0.02.
