ok on my 74 i have holes in the body, i don't know what they are from but they arn't rust holes i need to know if body filler (bondo) will fill these holes? some of the holes are quite large like dime to nickle size.
also im not quite sure how to use body filler. ive played around with it but any tips would help me out a bundle!
You need to tack weld something behind the holes to support the filler. Truly retentive people try to weld and grind so that they need no filler. When they say "it is the best way", they are usually right, but, at some point you have to emerge from your garage and remind your family of your better qualities. Your call!
If you're welding, and cannot access the back, try cutting an oval shape that you can barely fit through the hole(s) and weld this into place before filling. Tacking a small stud on the plate before you put it in the hole can save a bunch of trouble. been there learned that.
Panel adhesive would work as well (search the forum), but make sure not to use it for load bearing components. Note that there are some newer motorcycles (i.e. MuZ) being manufactured where the entire frame is glued together with adhesives. But, the load on a motorcycle frame is less than the load on a truck carting a half-cord of wood ))
