is it possible to add any features to the theft deterrent system in a 2001 - for instance a motion sensor? or am i stuck putting in an entire aftermarket system

I'm not sure about the factory alarms, but I don't think so. If you go aftermarket you can add a glass break sensor as well. And if you want to go all out, I'd recommend a remote start option as well. Could run you anywhere from $350-$500.... depending on which product you buy. The remote starter is a real nice add on... especially if you live somewhere it's cold out.

 

Yes you can! you can add remote start and or alarm to a keyless entry system.
Check out E-bay under ford alarms and there are quite a few add-ons. you will wont to make sure they are compatable with your system.
