Hey, I have a broken wire in my tailgate harness and it doesn't work with the key anymore. Is there any way to get the tailgate down to repair the bad wire ? Thanks
the window....it needs to be UP in order for you to remove to access cover and get to the wiring and mechanism.
can ya roll the window down from the switch on the front dash, then remove the panel?
ya know...you can NOT roll the window up after the tailgate is down. hope this helps ya
if the window goes down with the dash switch open tailgate.lock the latch on the left side with your finger, screwdriver ect.take off the inside panel.have some one work the dash switch till the window is sticking out 8 to 10 inches and STOP .you should be able to fix the wiring from there.put a chair or something under the glass to support it for safety.when your done wiring run the window down all the way.pull the handle to open the tailgate to unlock the left latch.close gate test window then put the panel on after you make sure its working.work slow that glass at cheap.
If you mean the harness going from the tailgate to the fender that runs along the edge of the tailgate. And if your dash switch wont work, the you will need to remove the access panel from the inside of the tailgate, (yea I know...its a pain in ***), and using some sort of jumper wire, apply 12 volts to the yellow w/ red stripe wire at the window motor. This will make it go down and you can open the tailgate and fix the harness.
Billybob69, The wire that I noticed was bad was green. It was all corroded (spell check) in the broken area. The front panel switch never worked when I bought it 2 yrs. ago. Thanks for the replys and keep any info coming......... Thanks
