Tachometer Markings
I suspect that the computer controls the engine revs to keep it from auto-destruct? Does anyone know if this is true and what that limit is?
No, with only 500 mi on the odometer, I'm not gonna field test my own unit.Don't even suggest -----.
Thanks in advance---

Hmmm... no idea, my diesel has red. And after about 1500 miles, I put her in 2nd gear and saw how far she'd go... right into the red... and kept going for a few hundred RPM's until it topped out pas the red line. I thought it was odd, so I called a mechanic, he told me Diesels will not blow themselves up unless you push them past their breaking point, like with a trailer down hill. He told me the red on the tach did not correspond with the engines actual stopping point and did not think the computer would limit the revs. on a diesel. ( all an unconfirmed opinion of a mechanic ) He did say the gas engines do have rev limiters... but I've not looked at a dash of one to notice there is no red line.
