2nd alt.

on my f-150 i don't have AC....so where the compresser goes theres just a pully.....would it be possible or is there alredy a bracket to mount a 2nd alternater?

You would have to fab up a bracket. And you need to make sure in your pulley configuration, that the belt wraps around at least half of the alt pulley. The lesser amount of wrap the belt has, the less gripping power it has. And a alt with a good load on it is pretty hard to turn.

i may have some time off next week i'll play around with it and see what i can come up with.......suprised there isn't anything on the market for that.

You can get high output alt for the stock location. The only reason I see for doing it is if you wanted to configure the extra alternator for 110v ac to run a saw or drill.

Wouldn't it be difficult to get 110 VAC at 60 Hz. What I mean is you could probably get an alternator that would put out 110 VAC but you would also need it to be at 60 Hz. The frequency would be dependent on rpm.

reason i wana add a second is for a power converter.....gona be adding off-road lights. all that fun stuff. just wanted a 2nd system for all thoes adds i'm gona be doin but a HO is an option also

They used to sell kits to convert auto alternators. And yes, you do have to have a manual throttle control to set the voltage. And it's only good for non-critical power tool use and such. It probably isn't done much anymore because of the advances in invertor technology and cheap prices.

There is a board somewhere(I will see if I can find it) where a guy used a Ford alternator to tig weld with.
