Any LOWERED Explorers out there?

I have a 97 2wd 4 dr with the SOHC V6 that I want to lower to make it handle better; any pics of lowered Explorers out there and if so, how did you guys do it (parts sources)?

Thanks...

There are a few of us on here...

How far are you wanting to lower it? Look in my gallery, and you will see some older pics. Lowering an Explorer is not that hard...

Nothing radical, really just enough to help the handling and get away from the swaying. I'll check out the gallery.

I've seen some parts to lower the rear but have yet to find the springs for the front for 97 Explorers. What's a good source for parts?

You lower the front by loosening the torsion bars as jmalecek said. You use lowering blocks on the rear between the rearend and the leaf springs. Cost is about $25.00 for the lowering and whatever a front end alignment costs, along with cambers. Usually, you iwll be done for about $100 total...

That will get you roughly up to 3 inches...

Thaks for the replies! I'm obviously new to modifying Explorers; been working on Fox Mustangs too long!

Hey there, I am a noob here, I heard about it from a buddy of mine that helped me lower my 97 Mountaineer. We did it just like they said. The only thing is we could only muster about an inch and a half from it. I just got on the board, so I do not have any pics set up in the gallery just yet. I plan on doing so after I am thru with this. If I can be any help, just let me know. I am taking what I know from Mustangs and using it on the Mountaineer. Good luck to you.
