Have just 1650 miles on a 04' 6.0 diesel and had my Glow Plug Control Module go out. Dealers says it is extremely rare and they never had it happen before. They said they had to call the Ford hotline about this.
Does this just happen?
Could it happen from not plugging in my truck in cold weather?
Even though until that day it started like a champ in 0 degree weather!!!
Could this have damaged some of my glow plugs?
Should I take my truck to the dealer and can they run a diagnostic to check my glow plugs or would my engine light come on if one or more were bad?
Sorry for all the questions. Did not expect to have problems with a $44,000 truck after only a few months. Then to have the dealer tell me they do not know why or how it happened does not sit well.
If the control mod. went bad it probley won't hurt the glow plugs as it usually means that they are not cycleing long enough to start the truck. I had that problem once and just change out the controler and everything was fine.
