Looking at 94 Crewcab..Issues?
I'm looking at a 1994 Diesel Crewcab F-350,
I thought all 92 and up were Turbo Diesels, I see now
there not..
Is the 94 a bad motor??? Whats the power difference from Power stroke to non power??
Is there issues or problems with this year truck to look for??
Note the injectors and pump were original with 180K miles on them.
It's my first diesel so I am no expert. I love it so far.
I've learned that the first version of the PowerStroke came out in late 94, replacing the IDI version.
The In-Direct Injection version has a mechanical injector system while the PS Direct Injection version is computer controlled.
The blocks, displacement, etc are the same. Here are some numbers on the two:
7.3L DI PS Turbo HP 210 hp @ 3000 rpm Torque 425 lb.-ft. @ 2000 rpm
7.3L IDI Turbo HP 190 hp @ 3000 rpm Torque 395 lb.-ft. @ 1400 rpm

I really like the way mine runs and understand that there are a few mods that will bring the IDI version up to the power numbers of the PS.
I think I'll wait on those til I need them. Right now it has plenty of pull for me.
Plus, if something goes wrong, I don't have to try and figure out a computer problem. Guess I'm old school.
