Now we are getting down to the real important mods: wipers!
I recently went to replace the wipers on my 2002 F350. I am rather tall and much of my height in in my torso (more than you needed to know, right?) Anyway, I noticed that the wiper doesn't go very far up the windshield and when I went to get the replacement, the book called for an exact replacement of 20 inches, i think. Anyway, I bought the next size up, one inch longer, and lo and behold, they work. In fact, I could have gone 2 inches longer. What's up with this? Why did Ford use such a short wiper? Is there any danger in burning out the motor from too big a wiper? I seriously doubt it! In any case, I can now see much better and therefore am a hppy camper. When these wear out, I will got for the 22 inch model (or whatever is two inches longer than stock.

The 22" blades work great. I learned about that tip from one of the many Ford sites on the net. In AZ, the blades don't last very long. The heat ruins them quickly.
That doesn't make any since as my 99 F250 Sd came from the factory
with 22 inch arms and blades. Go figure to go smaller in newer model
250/350's.

OK, now I'm loosing my mind. I went and measured the old blades I took off my 99 and guess what, they were 22" DAM! :-X23 So, I measured the 22" blades I bought and they are 22.5". I know I read somewhere that the 22" was an easy mod for our trucks. Maybe the wiper companies have the wrong blade listed for our trucks. I remember seeing that they called for 20".... oh well.
We tried all kinds of blades on our old Expedition. Found that the cheapest ones worked better than any others... even the tri-blade rain-X coated ones didn't do as well or last very long.
just this morning I went for new wipers for my '02 SuperDuty 250 and the Bosch catalog called for 22", but the part man said his book showed 19"... he gave me a tape measure and the oem measured 19" - but noticed they only went about 4" short of the top of the windshield. Went with the 22" and when it rained this afternoon immediately felt like it was a new windshield... much much better with the 22" and had no problem maintaining windshield contact throughout the whole wiper arc...
In case anyone is interested. It has been my experience in the past 15 or so years that Bosch windshield wipers are hard to beat. They seem to remain pliable(no chatter)and wipe without streaking in a wide variety of temps.longer than any other brands I have tried.
I went to get wipers yesterday. Auto guy gave me 20" blades. The ones on the truck were 18" I guess I'll be going to buy some 22"s since you guys say they work well.
