I have a '03 SD with the trailer tow mirrors and I was wondering if the newer style mirrors with the LEDs will bolt right up and work or is there wiring for the lights deleted in my truck. I do not have Heated Mirrors. Thanks for your help.
I'm not positive, but you will probably have to run wiring for the heat, parking lights, and signals...
I swapped my TT mirrors out for the heated/signal ones, but I have an '00 SD, so there definitely weren't any wires run other than for the power mirrors.
I have been checking into upgrading my power TT mirrors on on my '02 to the heated/signal ones like on my '04 KR. Went to the dealer and they quoted $555.63 for both mirrors with the paint to match covers.
Part numbers are :
4C3Z-17683-EAA Mirror assembly $169.00
3C3Z-17682-EAA Mirror assembly $196.01
4C3Z-17D743-CAA Paintable cover $95.31
4C3Z-17D742-CAA Paintable cover $95.31
They only have the more expensive mirror in stock and have to order the rest. I don't know why one mirror is more expensive than the other. Could the mirror in stock be older stock, which may have cost more than the current parts? Or does either the right or left side cost more than the other?
Twin Tritons,
Thanks for the $info. wow! But somehow they seem worth it! Turboglide, the ones on ebay are usually the TTs w/o heat/lights. But, I will keep checking for sooner or later, everything is on ebay!
I bought mine on ebay for around $150 for both. The driver's side mirror was missing, but the replacement only cost $30. So I got a great deal!!
I cut the plugs off of my old mirrors, and swapped them on the new mirrors, so that they would fit the plug in the door. I then ran 3 wires to each door (signal, ground, and parking). I tied in to the window switch for power for the heat.
turboglide,
Thanks for those ebay links.; The first one does have the heat and lights, but he has only one to sell. I would rather buy both at the same time. Thanks very much for the info.!
Thanks Autobahn! That is very cool to give me that info. about a product you are bidding on! I don't know if I will be bidding. I did bid on an item this week (the OEM clear headlamps) and won. Its awesome that they are brand new and half the price of the local Ford dealer! Take care.
