What's the best way to go about a disc brake conversion? I read most of the article in the tech section. It's a great detailed reference on using 73-79 parts.
Would it be better/cheaper/easier to use parts from a newer truck, say 80-95?
Just fishing for opinions and experience. Any comments welcome.
The newer parts (80-up) won't fit. Best thing to do is get a complete 73-9 F100/150 and then you'll have all the parts at once. If you get one with p/s you'll be able to swap that in too (box, column and pump, if it's off the same engine).
I have a whole set up for sale. I did this swap and now I am going to an coil-over front suspension. The truck has not been driven on the street since I did the swap so all components are like new still. E mail me if you are interested.

I don't have a Ford truck yet but I am thinking about buying a 71 from a friend. To me, the disc brakes are a requirement and I wanted to get a feel for what it would take.
Sounds like the aforementioned tech article is what I should follow.
yes I still have this stuff, I am ordering the new suspension soon, but if you need it tommoro I can do that. The easiest way to do this is to swap I beams with the spindels. I am in Denver Co. You should be able to e mail me if you "view users gallery"
