replace 4.0 with 4.6

I have a 97 explorer with the only junk enging ford ever made in it. Needless to say, it is a 4.0l sohc. I need to know if I can put a 4.6 out of a Lincoln Mark VIII in it and how much in involved in doing it. If someone has done it, or knows what is involved, please let me know. I love my explorer and would love to have it running again and have all the electronics for the 4.6. All info would be appreciated.

the 4.6 i bekieve is too wide. It would be much easier witha 302

I'd like to have my 4.0 SOHC replaced with the reliable 4.0 pushrod, but that's out of the question for me.

While the used car market is so soft, why not sell your truck and buy one with the V8?
