APC projector lights installed!!!
1. You MUST seal the new lenses with silicone!!!! The sealant used by the manufacturer is CRAP!!!! There were several spots around both lenses where there wasn't any sealant at all... Also, make sure to get all of the little pieces of styrofoam from the packaging out of the groove where the glass seals to the light assembly. I learned this lesson the hard way. I installed the lights without sealing them, and three days later noticed moisture in one lens. (Removed both lights, and used a hair dryer to get the moisture out.)
2. Luckily, I was able to remove the clips that hold the old lights in without damaging them. Several people have used vise grips to get them out. I used two small picks that came in a cheap screwdriver set. The picks were the ones that have a 90 degree angle on them. You just stick one pick in each side of the clip, pull the curved clip sides out, and pull up... The clips should slip right out.. (please note, the inside clip on both lights is much tighter on the new lights than on the factory lights)
3. If you are going to upgrade your bulbs, DO IT NOW!!!! There is not enough room behind the light, once it is installed, to get to the bulbs.
4. Hook up the fog lights before snapping the light in to place. The wires on the fog lights are too short to work with once the light is installed.
5. In order for the lights to be installed, two areas have to be cut out of the fiberglass housing on the truck. I found that a dremel tool with a universal cutting bit worked great. Slices through it like butter. But, as other people have stated, use a mask and safety glasses, as the fiberglass gets messy quick.
All in all, the lights look great, but I'm disappointed that all of the bulbs, (low, bright, and fog) that come in the lights are so bad... I definitely recommend upgrading the bulbs or you will be very disappointed.
As soon as the weather clears up down here in Houston, I'll get some new pics. I know some people have been hesitant to go with these lights if they have a grill guard. I have one that has the small bars in front of the lights, and I think the new lights still look great.
I hope this helps... Let me know if there are any questions that I didn't cover here.
