Ranger Rear Differential
I have a 2002 Ranger Edge, 3.0 L Auto, and I want to change the rear differential gear oil. Does anyone know if the cover uses a gasket, or just silicone gasket? Thanks for the info!!

I don't know about new model, but in older Rangers, you don't have to bother with any of gasket or other things. Just crawl underneath, it has a socket wrench hole right about middle of rear wheels gear case that you can loose a bolt in front of it, and refill a 90 weight synthetic gear oil. Filling up till it starts dripping out of the hole and you pop back and tighten that bolt, no drainage or anything. Just one bolt. (different from front gear box that has to be drained and refilled)
Let us know what is your case... checking every year to ensure it has oil in there, not dry.

Ranger rear differential
My truck has 28,800 miles on it, and I plan on putting Mobil 1 synthetic gear oil as a replacement. I bought the truck a few months ago, and just want to change out some of the fluids. Thanks to all who replied.
