I have a 1993 F-150 with a 4.9L in line 6. I need a fuse box layout on fuse placement and some help with a wiring issue. The Temp and Oil pressure gauges both always read high. Can any body tell me why? Thanks
If you dont have a owners manual or chilton/haynes repair manual get one but I think the fuse box layout is molded into
the top of the fuse box cover under the hood.
The Haynes manual gives a real good run down of all the fuse locations. The oil pressure gauge isn't a real gauge, it's a fancy idiot light. It reads oil pressure if you have above something like 7psi and goes to zero if the pressure falls below that. Apparently the sender isn't variable, it's an off/on switch.
The problem has a lot to do with the sensors on your engine. I run the 4.9 in a couple of trucks I have and it is a very dependable motor. A chiltons manual will tell you where they are on the engine. If you are really concerned that you are having problems with your oil pressure the only way to go is to get a high quality aftermarket gauge like an auto meter or equivalent. This will tell you exactly what your motor is doing and you will no longer have to guess.
Ok Thanks guys. Guess I will have to get a manual and look it up. This truck has 265,198 miles on it and has went trough 2 water pumps and likes to eat starters but that is all I have ever done to it. I bought it from my father in law for a $100.00 and put 90,000+ miles on it myself. If y'all have any input y'all think I might be able to use please let me know. Thanks again
