I am having a hard time picking the right truck. Is it the 2004 F250 4x4 crew cab diesel or the 2004 F150 4x4 super cab. The truck will be use for driving to work and in the summer pulling a 19 foot CC boat to go fishing. I hope in the near future I would like to get a slide-in camper to travel after I retire. I know if I get a slide-in camper I will have to get the F250. Do I get the f250 now or wait until I am ready to use the camper.
just my opinion but I bought a f150 back in 98 with the thought of "i dont need any more right now" well as it turned out just one year later I needed a diesel SD so back to the dealer I went. if you think you are going to use it, buy it now, buy once get the kinks worked out and be happy they only go up in price and if you are close to retirement might as well pay for it while you are working spend the money on a nice trailer or whatever later, but at least you will have your truck ready to go no matter what you decide. dont let you truck dictate what you haul I guess is my best advice. go big go diesel be done with it.
Just went through the same agony. Getting ready to retire, don't have a real need for the PSD at this time but look forward to taking advantage of the power it makes available. Traded a low mileage (mpg and road miles) F25O for a 2004 6.0 Extended Cab 4X4. Now enjoy 50% improvement in mpg, more power than the 7.5L ever dreamed of, and the peace of mind that knowing when I finally pickout the trailer I want to use for my future travel and hunting plans, I have the perfect truck.
If you can afford it, go 250 and enjoy life for a change!
I just went through the same thinking process. Came close to trading my 01 F250 in for the new F150 Super crew. It has enough power to pull most trailers. It's big enough, fast enough, the bed is too short! but for $6000 difference between the F250 Lariat and the F150 Lariat. I went with the F250. Main reasion. Peace of mind. The truck will handle anything I want to do and I dont have to worry about overloading it.
Either way, you will end up with a very capeable truck, that will haul more work than most people want to do in a day.
I suggest the 2004 SD 4X4 diesel. It'll outrun, outperform, and outlast the other. May as well get it now. Why procrastinate and talk yourself into something you don't really want. I HATE buyer's remorse.

Wrong-o
If you want a slide-in, get the F350. Legal payload on an F250 diesel is about 1100 lbs or less. There aren't many slide-ins that weigh under 1500-2500 lbs. Oh wait there are-they are called camper shells
i drive a 2001 f250 sc sb and my dad drives a 04 150 crew cab, and i wish i could sell my truck and get a new F150. They are really nice and seem to have a lot of power.
