okay i bought a rockford fosgate 8" sub used ffrom a friend. i also got an amp with it but it is no good. ive been running the sub and tweeter, there mounted in a nox with just my jensen 45X4 HU. also its a fairly small speaker wire. the sub sounds good on the bass parts but when it tries to do like smaller sounds its kind of scratchy sounding. please tell me its just because its not getting enough power. also is it possible to bridge the out put of your headunit? i plan on getting an amp soon but i was just curious. thanks
Dont bridge the radio. You'll cook the jensen.
So you have the radio powering an 8" sub and tweeter? No good. At the very least if money is tight the best thing would be to get a small 2ch amp and bridge that. Your music will be mono though.
Are you looking to buy anything or just make what you got to work?
I would agree--get an seperate amp asap
And if your running a enclosure with a sub woofer and a
tweeter mounted in it---disconnect the tweeter if possible
some headunits-like pioneer--allow you to bridge the 2 rear
speaker outputs --to power a single 2-4 ohm subwoofer
they have an internall crossover and electronic switch to
activate--
check your owners manual for your jensen--b4 attempting
sounds like your under powered though--get an amp!
thanks thats what i wanted to know. i plan on getting an amp just wanted to check out the sub first. i didnt think u could bridge the reciever just was curious. ive been looking at a few amps and plan to get 1 in the next week or so. i would like to spend 100 or less and was wondering what would be a good 4 channel amp or a good 2 channel one for that price range. i dont need a huge amp just one for some good clear base. thanks also why would i want to remove the tweeter? my other speakers are pioneer 6x9s and i figure they could use some help on the high pitch sounds?
Get rid of the tweeter because ther is probably no crosssover for one thing. If you are just powering your sub get a mono or 2 channel and bridge it for JUST the sub, then you can run 6x9's off of yuor HU. You could also get a 4 channel and run the 6x9's off channel 1&2. bridge channels 3&4 into the sub. You will have no problem finding an amp for under $100 for an 8". Try to get an amp that puts out about the same amps as you speakers RMS rated amps and be sure it is at the correct ohms.
