I have a 2000 F-150. I recently had to have the starter replaced by a local shop (was stranded). After picking up the truck and driving home everything worked fine until I turned the engine off and removed the key. When I removed the key, something in the dashboard beeps 5 short times. Does anyone have any idea what this could be?
I originally thought my CD / Radio needed to have the clock set, but upon setting it I still have the problem.
I can't determine for sure if it is coming from the CD unit or somewhere else in the dash. Any suggestions is appreciated.
Does your airbag warning light come on and prove out after a few seconds when you first turn the truck on?
About the only thing I can think of that would make 5 short beeps is an airbag problem.
Does it beep every time you remove the key?
Maybe try removing a battery terminal for 10 minutes or so and see if clears whatever is causing the beep.
Sorry that I sound vague here. Maybe someone will come along that has ran into this problem before.
Yes the air bag system appears to be working properly. It does beep everytime I remove the key IF the ignition was turned on. If I simply insert the key and remove without turning on the ignition, then no beeps. I will try removing the battery cable for 10 minutes this weekend to see it that resets anything.
Thanks and great forum. I am amazed at the number of users!
