my ford explorer's alarm tripped the other night. Car was in my drive, no one messing with it. I disconnected the battery for a day and it seemed to be fine. Drove it to work the following day and again the alarlm triggered, as I pressed the remote. Is there anything I can do? Any help would be appreciated.
Is it a factory alarm or after market? Factory will have a horn beeping after market will be like a siren, the only way i can think of is disconnect the alarm, if its factory i dont know the exact location but if its after market under the dash on the drivers side most likley
It is factory, the horn alerts and the lights flash when triggered. I disconnected the horn, but sure get the looks driving it with the lights flashing. Thanks.
i would connect the whole thing unless you find out the wire that controls the flashing of the lights just pull that the only down side to diconnecting the whole thing is you cant use the remote anymore
I've heard about water getting in and causing damage to the RAP module for the 1st gen Explorers. For the 2nd gen Explorers, the hood pin may be the cause. Check the hood pin to see if it's been damaged.
I have a '94 LE that did the same thing a couple of times several years apart, and found out from an auto electric shop that the fob batteries needed replacement. Did that and solved the problem both times.
