Front End Clunk
Well, I have seen many posts about an elusive front end clunking. My 2000 crew cab did it. Drove me and the dealer nuts. Everything was tight. Crawled all over checking, nothing loose.
Here's what I found.
I had a helper (my wife) rock the truck from side to side. I noticed that the lower shock bushings (although tight when grabbing the shock by hand) were compressing enough to allow the shock to bump into the brackets.
I went to the local 4x shop and bought some poly bushings. Installing them was a pain in the **** (wish I had a press!).
Anyway, got the bushings in, and NO MORE CLUNK! Cost me a whopping $3 per shock!
I am SOOOOO HAPPY!!!
