my screw lariat has the wood trim on the interior does anybody know where to get the carbon fiber trim like in the fx4? i looked at the fx4 but i did'nt really need a 4 wheel drive. any help would be appreciated.:-staun
We must have placed our posts at the same time. I'm about to order a new black lariat but the "wood" is holding me back. I just posted a question to see if I could simply replace it with black...like might be found on a more basic package. i would also consider the carbon fiber. What color is your interior?
Unfortunately the woodgrain is the only option on the Lariat. For the door panels you could simply have your dealer order the 6 pieces (6 if you have a screw, otherwise 4) from the FX4 and install them but you can't do the same for the center dash panel since the Lariat has the electronic temp control and the FX4 has 3 ***** (the trim piece is different).
When I ordered my truck the woodgrain was one of those things that I thought long and hard about, but in the end it wasn't enough to keep me from ordering the Lariat.
I found a place in Wisconsin that has a chemical process to refinish these 3d molded pieces with any texture you want. They can do carbon fiber, marble, brushed aluminum or any other pattern you provide them, so you could do Ford's 'diamond fiber' that's in the FX4.
I'm planning on doing a black brushed aluminum. I think it'll look really sharp and accent well with the black interior.
I called them about a week ago asking questions. They've got a 10 day turn around time and charge $0.50 per square inch. The back of the napkin estimates put that at about $185 for the center panel and the 6 door pieces. If you can find a dealer in your area that they are associated with (they can tell you if there's one close) the cost is $0.40 per square inch, but you need to go through that dealer which means they take their cut. The cost I estimated at 40 cents is about $150 for the set.
I plan on getting this work done within the next month when I take the time to figure out how to get he panels off.

There are pics in my gallery if you'd like to see the black interior on the Lariat.
My opinion, go with the Lariat. Even if you don't refinish your woodgrain pieces, you kinda get used to it...kinda.
Ouch...I certainly don't consider myself much of an interior decorator but come on. Please keep us informed about the deco-tek product. Just knowing there's hope will probably cause me to place my order for the truck.
Stupid designers .... They make the 150 "bigger and badder" so that it has a greater payload and then do stupid stuff to make so NOT a work truck...
First, they raise the sides of the truck bed and make it MORE difficult to haul a 5th wheel or gooseneck trailer. Then, there's NO PLACE to mount a brake controller!!
The shop put it right where my leg is for the accelerator. When I raise my leg to go for the brake, I am brushing the controller! It's gonna smash my leg if I'm in an accident and worse - I'll be changing the adjustments.
Is it possible to cut the lower dash area? I've got captains chairs - so the dash goes to the floor ... what's that empty opening below the ashtray/cup holder?
