hey guys, got a little problem with the law. i have a 71 f 100, and it got towed from a seatbelt check. they said the reason they were towing it was because there is a problem with the vin on the truck. i have only had the truck a few days, so they let me have it towed home. i need to know where the vins are stamped on the frame, so i can get this cleared up. i have no idea where they found the wrong vin on the truck. i cannot find one by the steering box. i need one i can get to with out tearing the truck apart. any help will be appreciated very much.
Should also be one on the latch side of the drivers door and one on the dash left corner looking down from outside of windshield.
As often as doors get replaced the one on the door is probably wrong. The cop probably only checked it.
Pull out you registartion to see what your vin # is, compare it to whats on the door then the dash.
If all else fails I think the one on the frame is where above person said it was.

Yes, check your driver side door. There should also be 2 stamped on the frame. I know where you can go to see a page with a picture of the frame in color with explanantions of where to look and much, much more....but it won't show up if I type it. email me if you can through my profile and I'll hook you up.
Good Luck, no 67-72 model Ford truck should have to go through this...lol.
finally got the problem taken care of, seems the state of okla made a minor error when entering the vin in their computer. seems i was driving a 75 chevy pickup instead of my ford when i was stopped. took a grand total of 15 minutes to fix the screwup over the phone. dang i wish people could read!
