Recently I used the words "Nascar" and "understand" in the same sentence and produced much more reaction than I expected. I promise not to do that again!
Here in Texas (Dallas area), we have a widw variety of motorsports available to us on any weekend. The following is this weekend's menu taken from today's paper:
Thursday - Legends Cars and Banolero racing at Texas Motor Speedway or street-legal drag racing at Denton Dragway;
Friday - events at 9 tracks including Go-karts, IMCA modifieds, CA stocks, street stocks, pure stocks, cruisers, hot stocks, mini-stock, junior mini-stock, UMP modified, bombers, NHRA drag racing, fuel altered outlaws, and Fun-N-Grudge Street Races;
Saturday - events at 13 tracks with the classes listed above plus NHRA bracket racing, USA sprint cars and modifieds, late models, hobby stocks, IHRA drag racing and junior dragsters;
Sunday - is slow with events at only 2 locations. That's because most of us are at home watching Nascar.
Thanks for your input. Whatever you're doing this weekend, I hope you enjoy it.
Dono
Dono, that's interesting. I have only been to one auto race in my life of 58 years. It was a dirt track in Pensacola, FL several years ago.
Do you have a list of the locations of some of the events you mentioned? I got the Denton one, but what about the other stuff?
I am always at church on Sunday, but a Saturday event would be interesting to me sometime. I don't like large crowds, so some of the smaller events would probably be my first choice.
For someone who is interested in motorsports, consider yourself lucky.
In my area, I have only 3 tracks, 2 asphalt and 1 dirt other than that, we have to drive over a hundred miles to get to a decent race track.
outside of ft hood you can't even safely drive a sloww truck due to all the knuckleheads who saw the movie "the fast and the furious". the only good car in it was the charger. i know it's a mopar ... but come on guys, it was a hemi with a blower.
i digress.
no decent tracks anywhere around here.
