i just bought por 15 and i am going to brush it on my frame. I had my frame clean then i put ace flat black paint down. will i need to strip the paint off or will it stick? on my rear end i have some grease on it should i just paint right over it or should i remove it? if so what should i remove it with? thanks in advance
Por-15 is a good product IF you follow the instructions. When top coating over any paint, there is a time window you must be in, in order to achieve a chemical bond, otherwise you should scuff, and then paint. As for painting over grease, I don't think anything would stick to that, it must be removed.

The one and only time I used Por-15, it was a big mistake to paint over the top of other paint. It lifted the old paint. Besides, Por-15 is designed to be painted on bare metal.
Remove the grease or you're just wasting your money. You can not paint over the top of grease and expect the paint to stick.
Believe they now have a primer can spay over topcoat before using the por 15.
Have used the por 15 in past, spaying over prepared bare metal with the por rust prevent paint, then used the por 15 topcoat while first coat still tackie.
anyhow, agree with other post and suggest taking look at their web site.
Good luck,
dave

According to Por 15 web FAQ "you can apply over other paints", but "will lose the important benefit of POR15" "ordinary paints weaken by exposure to moisture." "POR15 can not protect against rust unless in direct contact with metal."
Barring stripping off old paint, suggest wiping down frame with degreasing type solution, then focus on areas where rust is detected. Found the Marine Clean is a good degreaser, but may be issue if used over existing paint. Would be concern if started lifting sections of the old paint. Prefer couple coats of the por 15. If still not clear, suggest either email, or call and explain situation. They usually have a tech person available. Toll free #'s: on web page, 800 457-6515, and on brochure sent me: 877 693-7878.
anyhow, for what it is worth,
Good luck,
dave
