I went out to engage my 4x4 as usual to keep it lubed. It engages into 4x4 high but when i put it in 4x4 low it doesnt engage. No lights blink or nething. Normally when i engage into 4x4 high as usual it will click 3 clicks behind the panel. When I switch into 4x4 low it clicks once after bout 5 secs but never engages. I tried moving it foward and nothing. I try switching directly from 2wd and still nothing. Its not blinking or nething.
I think you need to be stopped and in neutral to get it in low. Also to get it out. Is that what you are doing? I really don't think the switch is the problem. If it won't go into 4 low it's probably the motor.
Yea i tried sitting in neutral and stopped in the driveway. And still nothing. When i was at my uncles not to long ago i switched into 4wd low and it didnt engage until i move the vehicle a few inches and it went in fine. And it did the same to disengage. And I just cant get it to do nething now. I will get my dad to take it to work and check the motor out and see what he can find.
UPDATE!!!!
I went outside again today and did the same exact thing as yesterday. And it engage and dissengaged (it doesnt like to come out once its in) just fine. I dont know if it is a sign that the motor almost gone or if it was just one of those time when it just was cooperating. Plus today was bout 20 degrees warmer then yesterday and it hesitates when it is real cold most of the time.
Those motors are known to cause problems. Usually just cleaning it will fix it, but not always. There are a lot of posts on this forum about your problem. You can do a quick search to get more info.
I do mine at least once a month. But normally if im sitting at in the parking lot somewhere waiting for someone i will engage it just because I have nothing to do. But on average once a month.
Yea I dont use mine much often and it still works fine. I found out the issue with mine too. Operator error. Once I read the manual i realized i had to have my foot on the brake and the clutch. And it engages everytime almost instantly and disengages the same way which it has never done since i had it. I guess that was my fault on that part.
