Lately my fuel mileage has gone down from 400 miles a tank to about 300. can somebody tell me why? Recently did a tune up. timing is correct, new pcv, cleaned air filter.
One advantage of throttle-body injection is that they generally retain the warmed intake air provision that was once common when we all had carbs. Port fuel injection systems don't need it, and as a result mileage suffers in cold weather (the computer has to richen the mixture to compensate, and fuel has a harder time mixing with cold air).
Your driveline lubes thicken as they cool, and that hurts - try synthetics. Your tires will lose air pressure as the air inside them cools and contracts, and the bigger your tires are the more this will effect your mileage.
Jeez man, what size tank you got that gives you 400 miles?I just put a 33 gal. in and I'm hoping I get that. Maybe going down hill,on a hiway, with a tailwind!!
But then again, look at all the stuff I have on my truck.
I get about 400 miles per tank in my beast. That is running it down to two gallons let in the tank. 32 most gas I have ever put in it is 30. I have noticed a drop off during the cold here lately. I am not pushing it in the winter last three times I filled up I had 6 gallons left and the thing shows E. I am used to the inaccurate fuel guages from Ford. Drops from full to half in no time and then to E but it is no where close to empty.
