trans fluid amount/ type.
302 automatic, what type of trans fluid, and how much?? I want to have fluid changed. I really believe in synthetic, so that is what shes going to get.
Thanks,
Kevin
Never argue with an idiot.
They drag you down to there level and beat you with experience!!!
As for changing over to synthetic... that is going to be quite expensive.... as you have to flush all of the old fluid out, then do the trans service. The basic server takes about 5 quarts.... the whole trans is something like 11 or 12 quarts. So all said and done, you are into it for at least 16 - 17 quarts.
I went all synthetic in my 79 crewcab 4x4. I put synthetic wheel beraring grease, trans fluid, transfercase and differentials.
Reason, My brother in law is a mechanic at U.P.S. They have done there own studies, not just local but everywhere. He says that the data they have from before synth, to the data now, suggests that there is clear no dobt (not the rock group) info that synthetic is superior.
Example, the package cars you see around town, in the city I live near they have not had to change out a rear differential Yet. Some have over 2 milion on them. They have however had to replace the axles cuz the splines get worn.
I have not driven my crewcab on a hiway yet. still in progress.
But, I do push in and out of the garage when I am going to paint or do something dirty. I do push by hand out, and back in. I do in stages with a 2X4 in my hand. But since I rebuilt the front end and put in the synthetic grease, I can push easier. Maybe in my mind, or I am stronger now. Besides, how could I go wrong, the transfercase and diff synth. is green.. It looks so cool!! Just call me crazy.
thanks for the reply
